I ordered samples of the special acoustic fabric from Guilford of Maine fabric manufacturer.

We'll see how the samples look in situ before ordering.

The Bat Cave - Home Theater

From: http://www.cepro.com/slideshow/image/150/

So I wonder if my wife will let me install a "Batcave" style home theater?

Around the House - Home Theater Update

Nicole and I have been plugging away in our Home Theater. We've got the drywall about 3/4 installed and are now facing the hard part. Mudding.
I "could" hire some people to come in and do it for us - to the Tune of about $3000-4000. That's nearly 1/2 my budget for the entire theater room, so I think I'm going to take a pass on this one and Nic and I will do the mudding ourselves.

Since I'm not a professional drywall mudder, I know that the job we do will be less than perfect. I'm tossing around ideas for wall panels that will help disguise my 'non-pro' mudding job and enhance the appearance of our home theater room. Now don't panic. I'm not talking about the cheesy faux wood panels that we all grew up with in our family rooms. I'm talking hand-built wainscotting from scratch.

Here are a few inspirational images. I really like the one with the brown walls above.

Around the House...

Its been almost a year since we moved into our new house and we're currently working on finishing the basement. Our dream is to have a fully functional, ear-drum ripping 6.1 surround sound home theater, complete with wet bar and big screen

(we have a 55" TV right now....but there is room for larger, later)

We've been working up a storm on our home theater room. 2 weeks ago I got the prep work about 90% finished. The framing is done, the electrical is done, and I have some HVAC to modify - run a heating vent down to the floor. We're also about 1/2 way through the drywalling (Nic and I have been working on it together).

Here is a sketch of the details, a couch we like for the room and the colour scheme that we both like for the theater room.
